TRIPOLI PORT CONGESTION
January 27th, 2012.
Dear Customer,
Please be advised that TRIPOLI port is currently affected by a severe congestion.
Average Tripoli Port Stay is now reaching 15 days (including 8 days of Anchorage).
At this stage there are 12 vessels waiting to get a berth.
We will be - therefore - revising the Congestion Surcharge from 160 USD/TEU up to 200 USD/TEU (eq. 155 EUROS/TEU) to recover a part of the increasing costs of this call, as from February 5th 2012, Bill of Lading date at Port of Loading.
CS: Congestion Surcharge Tripoli (Dry+ Reefer)
Trade: All worldwide origins to Tripoli
This surcharge will be revised with 10 days notice, according to the evolution of the current operational situation of this port.
We would like to highlight we do call, on a regular basis, EL KHOMS port (100 km away from Tripoli) and MISURATA port (200 km away from Tripoli) which do not suffer from any congestion.
Difference in transit time can currently reach between 15-20 days in favor of El Khoms / Misurata versus Tripoli in the current difficult circumstances.
Remark: Reefer Plugging facilities are currently saturated in Tripoli.
We - therefore - recommend to TEMPORARILY route/divert as much as possible the cargoes originally destined to TRIPOLI (dry + reefers) to EL KHOMS and MISURATA instead.
We will be obviously considering a favorable adjusted pricing if your next shipments are sent to those ports i/o Tripoli - during this complicated period.
We would like to remind you that CMA CGM is attending the ports of Libya through SAFRAN and SIRIUS services, on weekly sailings from main ports in Brazil and Plate via Valencia or Hamburg.
We are at your entire disposal should you need further details.
Kindest Regards,
CMA CGM do Brasil
